Qualifications and Experience Requirements:· Qualification: N.Dip Civil / B.Tech Civil / B.Sc Construction Management / related industry qualification· Professional registration or candidacy with SACPCMP / ECSAMinimum 3 years working experience on-site in specifically civil construction surveying (Roadworks, Earthworks, Pipelaying) Purpose of the position:The role of the Construction Surveyor is to set out work for construction by interpreting drawings and through line and level control ensuring correct survey information is provided to construction teams. Once work is completed, it is measured for payment purposes and submitted to the Engineer as as-built data.Key Accountabilities Set out accurately from construction drawings and benchmarks sufficient information to provide construction teams with daily targets. measurement of excavations, dumps, stacks, and stockpiles.Survey and measurement of the completed excavations, stockpiles, pipework, and roadworks for as-built purposes and measurement for payment.Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted for cross-checks.Manage & control the survey and performance of at least one pipe, roadworks, or earthworks team.Plan and conduct grid surveys to establish volumes and areas of usable material.Check and adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy.Train assistants and helpers and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or tasks.Person Specifications:Consciousness for detail and the ability to produce consistently high-quality, accurate work.Ability to travel as and when needed.Strong problem-solving skills.Strong verbal & written communication skills.Resilience - being able to handle complaints and conflict.The ability to work as part of a team.Be self-driven & pro-active.Competencies/Skills:Strong problem-solving skills.Strong verbal & written communication skills.Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings, and construction documentsUnderstanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazardsCompetent in the use with practical experience in survey instrumentation, i.e.:Use of a level and staffUse of a theodoliteUse of a total stationUsing GPS equipment is optional· Has excellent oral & written communication in English and another language· Driver's license Code B minimum.
