Minimum Qualifications: A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a B-Degree in Law or Environmental Management (LLB would be advantageous)Up to 8 years' relevant experience in environmental management including the administration and enforcement of environmental lawsDemonstrable in-depth knowledge of environmental laws including the application of administrative justice principles in environmental administration, compliance monitoring, and law enforcementComputer Literacy (MS Office)A valid Code B or EB driver's license (essential)Physically fit and able-bodied Key Performance Areas: Ensure environmental laws are correctly interpreted in strategic planning and project preparation processes by advising and guiding project managers and specialists on applicable environmental law and its interpretation and application in each strategy or projectApplication of administrative justice of national and provincial environmental legislation and City By-LawsFacilitation of contracts and agreements such as MoA's for environmental resources management, utilization, and association of strategic or operational environmental partnerships in order to provide for sustainable resource allocation which protects the interest of the City, residents, and other stakeholdersProviding specialist legal skills and experience to facilitate environmental compliance and monitoring, enforcement, reporting, and remedial actionRepresenting the City's environmental compliance and law enforcement programmes in appropriate inter-governmental forums and events in order to establish networks and operational partnerships for environmental compliance and enforcement at local, provincial, and national level How to Apply: By submitting your application for a position at the City of Cape Town, you are consenting to the use of your personal information.
