Ivanplats is looking for a Chief Safety Officer
IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this "mine of the future". Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development.
Suitable candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
Grade 12 or equivalent
National Diploma in Safety / Risk Management or equivalent at NQF Level 6
COMSOC 1 & 2
SAMTRAC
Audit Certification for ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 45001
Valid Medical certificate of Fitness
Valid First Aid Certificate
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)
Valid EB driver's license
Suitable candidate must have the following work experience:
At least 3 years as a Safety or Risk Officer experience in a similar role in mining
Understanding of contractor management in a mining environment
Auditing protocols for contractor management
Basic knowledge of relevant safety principles and systems
Hazard identification skills
Analytical with sound attention to detail
Objective, with strong logical reasoning skills
Observant and perceptive
Performance and achievement driven.
Emotionally mature
Assertive and independent
Sound interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
Problem-solving mindset with ability to make recommendations.
Sound knowledge of Rand Mutual Assurance processes and related employees' compensation companies
Your successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
Effective cost control through efficient risk management practices
Effective self and team management in alignment with Ivanplats values and leadership initiatives
Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows.
Effective implementation, monitoring and reporting of all contractors related safety processes.
Conduct accurate, timely legal audits of contractors' onboarding and operational files.
Conduct monthly contractors' meetings.
Effective and efficient risk management of employees under your responsibility.
