A recognized three- or four-year which includes professional teacher education with Mathematics and Statistics at 2nd year level, and a minimum of 9 years' experience in the educational field with credible, relevant management experience. Must be registered with SACE. Proven project management, leadership, communication, report writing, presentation and supervisory skills, along with basic Financial Management. An understanding of the Gauteng Provincial Government's strategic vision, priorities, and public service legislation. A thorough knowledge of curriculum and assessment policies, and applicable changes to assessment policies in the last 5 years, in all phases, as well as all other policies and legislation governing education in South Africa. An in-depth knowledge of data analysis trends and changes impacting on education. At least 3 years' relevant experience in data management and data systems, including SA-SAMS, within the education and examinations environment. This must involve data processing and analysis, including the interpretation and explanation of findings and complex graphs for the education environment and the implications for intervention programmes. Experience in the use of SPSS or STATA focusing on the analysis, interpretation and multilinear regression analysis of learner performance data. Ability to interpret Rasch Analysis data. Knowledge and understanding in using examinations and assessment data extracted from the Integrated Examinations Computer System (IECS) to process and analyse learner performance data. Must be willing to work overtime. A valid driver's license. Duties :
Manage the coordination and collection of complete, valid and accurate learner performance data for all schools via the 15 districts per data cycle/ academic school term. Process and analyse quantitative learner performance statistics, for all grades (R-12), in accordance with assessment policies relevant to each data cycle. Provide diagnostic feedback to the system on trends and shortcomings in learner performance. Conduct item analysis on the question data derived from common and national examinations. Compile a detailed report on different categories of performance across subjects and schools at Provincial, Regional, District and school level to inform the planning of targeted interventions. Report on correlation between SBA and Examination marks in all subjects and any variance which exceeds the accepted tolerance range. Provide graphs and input for the Standardisation process. Represent the GDE in relevant structures. Work closely with Directorates within the Curriculum Management and Delivery and other branches to ensure the management of data pertaining to learner performance. Processing and availing of learner performance data upon request. Understand the full use of SA-SAMS, with particular attention to the Module 12 and SIAS. Facilitate the training of role-players at all levels of the system to support and improve the use (i.e. collection, processing, analysis) of learner performance data within the system. Inform training content to ensure the delivery of relevant training. Provide leadership and guidance to the members of the sub-directorate. Notes :
