DescriptionChief Accountant Position: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. The successful candidate will oversee, review, and evaluate the corporate compliance program on the local level, ensuring management and employees comply with local rules and regulations and that corporate and company policies are being followed.Key Responsibilities:Statutory reporting and compliance for African legal entities.Standardization of accounting processes, transactions recording, and daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting.Chart of accounts and cost center structure standardization for legal entities.Monitor share capital development, dividends, and equity rules compliance.Ensure compliance with Group accounting standards, International Accounting Standards, Statutory, and Tax rules.Manage tax compliance, support tax reviews, prepare tax reports, and tax calculations for annual group and statutory accounts.Oversee annual audits, prepare annual statutory accounts, and notes.Coordinate and facilitate Internal Control matters.Main contact point for general accounting processes, group reporting, and specific accruals, provisions, Intercompany invoicing, investments, and asset reviews.Reconcile and pay all Intercompany balances in line with GSS Finance goals and KPIs.Perform Cash management tasks, including bank account management and reconciliations.Support key strategic projects, including Finance system rollouts.Requirements:Professional Accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant South Africa CA(SA) or equivalent) with Big 4 audit firm experience.Educational degree in Finance.5 years of experience as Finance or Compliance Manager.Experience in a global Finance organization, international company, and key business processes across functional areas.Characteristics of Successful Employee:Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.Sharp judgment and good communication skills.Positive attitude, customer-centric mindset, and willingness to meet organizational goals.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documentation and financial reports.Energetic, approachable, and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.Ability to work virtually/remotely with minimal face-to-face interaction.Solution-oriented, willing to take initiative to solve problems.Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.Attentive to detail and deadlines.Ability to multi-task and prioritize.Proven ability to learn and understand new software/accounting systems.
