Introduction
A position has become available for a Category Manager (Bakery) to join our dynamic team.
To maximise profitability subject to the marketing policy by being in stock of the right product, in the right quantity, at the right price, to achieve targeted sales, gross profit and budgeted stock levels.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Negotiating with Sales Representatives from Suppliers and maintaining comprehensive records of all transactions with Suppliers.
Negotiating deals and prices to achieve competitive retail prices and budgeted gross profit for D.C. and Retail.
Conducting retail visits to assist retailers with store standards, specs, ranging, pricing, and promotions.
Achieving targeted sales, stock and GP's while minimising out of stocks.
Managing stock levels and service levels against sales and budgets.
Managing product ranges within specified product categories – CATMAN.
Drive sales through special promotions and new product innovation.
Development of a localised supply base.
Coordination of key sales events such as tradeshows.
Marketing or Purchasing related Degree/Diploma.
Thorough knowledge of buying systems and processes essential.
Good Negotiating, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Technical understanding of bakery processes and new product development will be advantageous.
Thrives on challenge and a pressurized/demanding work environment.
Strong drive, initiative, sense of urgency and use of innovation to resolve business challenges.
Must have leadership skills and proven record recognising the coaching, mentoring, and training of fellow team members.
Knowledge of FMCG Marketing is essential.
A minimum of 5 years buying experience would be advantageous.
Computer Literacy.
SAP experience will be advantageous.
