Your opportunity:

The Rotman Commerce program is offered jointly by the Rotman School of Management and the Faculty of Arts and Science. It is a highly respected, highly competitive program within the business, financial and academic communities. Rotman Commerce serves approximately 3,200 in-program undergraduate business students aswell as over 17,000 graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce program. Rotman Commerce offers its students a rich and rigorous academic program alongside ample opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.

As the Career Advisor, Industry, you will work with a team of career service professionals to ensure students and recent alumni are prepared to enter the job market with confidence and a solid understanding of how their strengths, values and interests are coherent with their identity and program of study. You will be responsible for the development of quality, high-level external partnerships within an industry sector in order to provide the highest quality career development services to students.

Yourresponsibilities will include: Advising and coaching students on developing career-related goals; coaching conversations may include job search, industry research, networking strategies, building a resume and cover letter, interview preparation and other employment options and strategiesDeveloping and implementing programming to foster students' individual career development process; reviewing and assessing feedback received from workshops, programming and appointmentsKeeping well-informed on industry best practices and trends by conducting market research and analysis to uncover employment opportunitiesPromoting programs and service offerings to internal and/or external contacts, including employer jobs and engagement with studentsPartnering with employers to support their Early Talent recruitment strategies, leading to establishing activities that best meet student learning needsAnalyzing and recommending actions to increase student/ employer visibility; implementing plans and process improvements for employer engagement activitiesFostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts; identifying and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers and corporate partnersDocument stakeholder interactions for future reference and ensure the Rotman Commerce Portal is well maintainedEssential Qualifications: Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experienceMinimum five (5) years full-time, relevant, progressively more senior experiencePrevious work experience in Financial Services industry is preferredExperience facilitating and presenting; experience in coaching or advising (preferable within a university setting)Experience in career services or campus recruitment requiredAbility to utilize technology, including social media, as an education toolExperience in corporate relations or serving in a client facing capacityDemonstrated written, oral and interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously and under minimal supervisionCollaborative team approach and positive attitudeOutstanding customer service focus and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people at different levels of the University and with external stakeholders is essentialPossesses a deep, as well as broad, understanding of an assigned market sector and career options within a sector; understanding of career trends and opportunitiesMust have a good understanding of business students and employment marketsDemonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentTact, discretion, and sensitivity to confidential mattersStrong computer skills; sound working knowledge of MS Office; experience with databases and Content Management SystemsAbility to work outside of normal office hours for event support Assets (Nonessential): Career coaching certificationExperience working with post-secondary students in a university environmentExperience or knowledge in business communities such as finance, accounting, management, or marketingValid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle To be successful in this role you will be: Closing Date: 08/25/2024, 11:59PM ET

USW Pay Band 14 -- $90,056. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $115,169. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
