The Assistant Director is a key member of the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) team and is responsible for providing innovative services and career education to students. The Assistant Director will educate students on the career development process and strategically engage partners across campus to provide in-person services to students, employers, and other external partners.
As departmental liaison to the College of Health, this position manages and coordinates career programs and activities for College of Health students. The Assistant Director provides in-person individual and group career coaching; facilitates job and internship search guidance, services, programming, and resources to students and alumni; conducts targeted group and classroom presentations; designs and implements communications for faculty/staff, employers, students, and graduates; and plans and coordinates several career events annually.

This position is a Grade: 9 - 40 with an approximate salary range of $51,390-$66,190 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications

Key Accountabilities

Develop and support strategies for engagement (20%): Design and execute a student engagement strategy to connect College of Health students with CCPD early and often. Provide career education using a thorough knowledge of career development theory while applying a broad range of interpersonal skills that include coaching, mentoring, and innovative approaches to career education.
Employer relations and strategic outreach (10%): Contribute to the growth of the on-campus recruiting program and job postings through collaboration with employers, alumni, faculty, staff, and student organizations. Interact with corporate recruiters to facilitate the successful recruitment of students.
Manage Career Education Programming (30%): Develop and deliver career events and specialized programming designed to connect employers and students. Coordinate career events, special college events, career expos, targeted programming and executive-in-residence programs.
Manage Career Fellow program (20%): Recruit, train, develop, and manage 13+ Career fellows who are instrumental in the scaling and delivery of career education.
Program promotion in campus communities (10%): Develop and manage outreach and career development programs to increase diversity of students who utilize The Center for Career & Professional Development.
Cross college and program support (10%): Provide career coaching, events, and classroom presentations to support the needs of the department to various colleges throughout the university.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, Higher Education or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to five years of related work experience.
Broad knowledge of career development programming, theory, approaches and strategies.
Broad knowledge of recruiting practices, industry trends, and best practices in career services.
Demonstrated skills in developing a team approach to career education and to develop productive working relationships with multiple constituents including students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and employers.
Qualified candidates are able to work independently and in a team within a culturally diverse environment; are aware of new technologies and trends; and demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit history based upon the requirements of the position.
