The role:
The Cad/GIS Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining the CAD and GIS database as well as preparing maps and documents on the operation. The role is required to ensure that the surveying and mapping archive is backed up and complies with legal requirements.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Data capturing of all operational activities within mine license area
Manage consumables and ensure integrity of all captured data
Ensure that all survey plans and databases are maintained
Downloading and storing of data according to standards
Recording of information according to standards
Importing data into CAD software
Ensure CAD/GIS standards remain relevant to current practice
Generate plans for mining, compile production reports and prepare ad hoc reports
Provide input to Survey Manager/Section Manager: Planning regarding production results and figures
Drafting sectional plans, indicating mining hazards
Drafting of hazard identification for inclusion in Risk Assessment
Drafting of monthly and weekly production plans
Comply with statutory plans as prescribed in the MHSA chapter 7
Requirements:
CoM draughting certificate/diploma (CAD), plus demonstrated competency in operating a GIS
3 years' experience as Draughtman/Junior Surveyor + Member of the GIS fraternity & membership of IMSSA
Supervisory development
FIA compulsory
Knowledge of the mining industry and relevant legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act
Good working knowledge of the Coal Mining Process
Computer literacy (MS Office) - Advanced
Valid driver's license
Defensive driving
In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness
Advantageous:
Good working knowledge of Seriti policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
