Your opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Office of the CAO and CAO, the Business Officer works to support the confidential, efficient, effective and accountable operations of the Division of Student Life. The Business Officer manages departmental financial resources and provides exceptional financial, budget and administrative management, including reporting, database support and guidance by ensuring all departments supported by the Office of the CAO comply with University policies, procedures, timelines and best practices.
The incumbent manages the day-to-day financial operations of several Student Life departments; planning, monitoring, processing revenue, expenses and payroll, while liaising with Financial Services to remedy issues.
The incumbent must present a professional image of the Office by interacting knowledgeably and courteously with a variety of individuals including senior administrators, faculty, staff, students and community members. The position requires excellent communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Your responsibilities will include: Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgetsAnalyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision makingMonitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocationsApplying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements when making independent decisionsProducing complex statistical and/or financial reportsDeveloping and revising business methods that support administrative workflow and objectivesKeeping well-informed on changes to policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirementsEntering salary and/or personnel information in HRIS; processing payroll transactions including maintaining salary and/or personnel information in HRISEssential Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in business or commerce, with specialization in finance or accounting, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum five years financial and administrative management experience.Experience with monthly statement reconciliation, budget preparation, forecasting, data analysis, reports generation, financial management, and human resources planning and processing.Must have well-developed accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial and administrative management skills.Knowledge and experience with University of Toronto's Administrative Management System (AMS), including the Financial Information System (FIS) and Human Resources Information System (HRIS).Demonstrated experience processing payroll transactions including maintaining salary and/or personnel information in HRIS.Experience in financial transactions such as journal entries, expense reimbursements, purchase requisitions, accounts payable and receivable.Excellent computer skills (e.g. Excel, Word, Access, other database systems) are required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing are required.Must possess a results focused commitment to excellence, with exceptional interpersonal skills.Must be flexible and adaptable with a high level of initiative, customer service focus, reliability and trustworthiness.Must have exceptional organizational, planning and time management skills, accuracy and attention to detail, and be able to multi-task.Must have demonstrated strength working as a team player, with a focused commitment to the operations of the department.Must display a keen intellectual aptitude for root cause analysis of issues and how to design best practices for resolution.Assets (Nonessential): Experience with preparation of statistical reporting.To be successful in this role you will be: MeticulousMulti-taskerOrganizedProceduralClosing Date: 10/03/2024, 11:59PM ET
