An opportunity has become available for a Business Development Manager within Santam Segment Solutions Agriculture & Education, to be based at Gauteng or Western Cape.What will you do?The successful candidate will be responsible to drive and deliver Santam's strategy within this high performance, fast growth environment in agriculture.What will make you successful in this role?Key Responsibilities:Drive and deliver Santam's strategy within Segment Solutions – Agriculture & Education segmentCollaborate and engage with all stakeholders and business owners for the purpose of business development and managementBuild relationships and develop market presence with designated key role players, industry leaders, business partners.Align the business strategy with internal and external stakeholdersBusiness Development support to the regions, collaboration with Underwriting, and Survey departmentsUnlock business opportunities with organized organizationsAttend to consumer education and product development by focusing on product knowledge as key principles towards growthAssist in formulating, implementing and coordinating the marketing strategy initiative.Provide strategic input for relevant business area when required.Bring your value and knowledge to extend us into new opportunities.Provide technical training to all stakeholders.Execute technical marketing to all stakeholders.Write articles and conduct media interviews.Effective management of the business unit's budget (including marketing budget) and its resources. Detailed understanding of the financial drivers of a business is key.Compile monthly financial reports on the Agri & Educational segment for reporting including to Heads of the business.Qualification and ExperienceMatric Qualification / Grade 12Short Term Insurance related qualificationMinimum of 2 years in Business development5 years Commercial Lines and Agri ExperienceMarketing experience (Advantage)Knowledge and SkillsITMS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)BusinessTechnical Product knowledge in respect of both Agriculture and Commercial Short-Term InsuranceGood understanding of all new developments within agriculture and the insurance needs of our farmersTechnical knowledge and understanding of Santam Niche ProductsKnowledge of and experience in financial services sales and adviceFocusing on the relationship with all agricultural stakeholdersUnderstanding of Compliance requirements in on-boarding, training and vesting of new Short Term Insurance advisers.Financial and commercial acumenPersonal AttributesStrong leadership skillsStructured with good organisational abilitiesSelf-motivated/self-starter and able to work under minimal supervisionConfident to influence and gain commitmentRelationship building skillsDriving StrategyCommercial OrientationClient FocusDecision MakingOur commitment to transformationSantam is the market leader in the general insurance industry in Southern Africa.
