PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role requires an enhanced focus on Teraco's energy consumption through the monitoring of municipal energy consumption / costs, renewable energy wheeling programmes, Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) management and diesel consumption to ensure accurate reporting thereof and enable timely and proactive responses / interventions where required to drive value creation for Teraco.
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Energy:
Energy Monitoring and Reporting: Create significant value for Teraco through monitoring and reconciliation of Teraco's municipal energy consumption / costs, renewable energy wheeling programmes (Teraco Solar and 3rd party Independent Power Producers), renewable energy and diesel consumption to ensure accurate forecasting and timely reporting thereof to Finance team and enable proactive responses / interventions where required.
Independent Power Producer programme: implement performance monitoring and management reporting of Teraco's IPP programme against initial budgets, IPP minimum supply obligations and IPP targeted commercial operation dates.
Engage with applicable Municipalities: to ensure energy consumption is accurately recorded on council bills. Drive practical implementation of wheeling agreements to ensure wheeled energy credits (Teraco utility scale solar and IPP generated) are accurately recorded on council bills.
RECs: drive practical implementation of REC programme to ensure accurate allocation / retirement of RECs and reporting thereof to applicable Teraco clients.
Teraco utility scale projects: implement performance monitoring and management reporting of Teraco's utility scale solar programme against initial budgets and energy production performance estimates.
Teraco rooftop solar projects: implement performance monitoring and management reporting of Teraco's rooftop programme against initial budgets and energy production performance estimates.
Budgeting: Work with Head of Sustainability and selected partners to prepare project cost and economic returns analysis based on conceptual / initial designs, cost inputs and plant performance estimates. Work with the Head of Sustainability and finance team to get budgets approved and to track implementation. Report monthly to Head of Sustainability and senior management on actual costs incurred / performance against budgets / predicated performance and updated forecasts.
Sustainability:
Drive Teraco's Sustainability Strategy: Create value for Teraco by driving implementation of Teraco's sustainability strategy.
Sustainability Reporting: Monitor and report on Teraco's progress in meeting its sustainability targets as aligned to international best practice, respond to shareholder and client sustainability reporting requests, and coordinate response to sustainability ratings platform.
ISO 140001 & 50001: ensure alignment of ISO 14001 & 50001 policy and objectives with Teraco's sustainability strategy and reporting.
Presentations and Communication: Prepare power point presentations and reports for presentation to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders (as required).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
BCom (Hons), BBusSci, BSc (Engineering) or BEng.
Preferably 2-3 years' experience in energy utilities / renewable energy related field.
