Key Purpose of the roleThe Senior Business Analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems. Translating those system requirements into functional specifications that are used by developers to craft a technical solution.
Responsible for also translating the business vision into the design and connecting the business model to the systems architecture. The Senior Business Analyst will be assigned to more complex and high-profile projects. Ensure High-Level testing is done against the requirements to make sure that the solution is solving the needs addressed and gathered during the analysis phase.
The Senior Business Analyst is a critical liaison between the Project Manager and the Technical teams and is expected to work across multiple business areas and teams to support the Group's shared value model. Lead, coordinate and oversee the work of other BA's as it relates to a specific project. Stand-in for the BA Manager if necessary, in an advisory capacity.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:PlanningParticipate in high level planning sessionsLead the BA effortCreate a requirements management plan (where required)Facilitate the development of a Business CasePlanning and scoping several inter-related initiativesInformation GatheringInterview StakeholdersInterview UsersIdentifying and addressing operational, financial and technological risks within the businessRequirements GatheringFacilitate requirements gathering sessionsDocument Business RequirementsWalk-through the Business Requirements with the businessVerify RequirementsFinalise and obtain approval of Business RequirementsDevelop Requirements traceabilityParticipate in requirement gathering sessions initiated for Group projectsReview requirement specifications from peersFunctional RequirementsJoint Application Design (JAD) sessions with technical team to create functional specificationsWork with the business and technical teams to validate functional specificationsFinalise and obtain approval of Functional Requirement specificationsMaintaining, testing and improving business and systems operationsDesignTranslating the business objectiveUse Cases and ScenariosFunctional Requirements and features requiredStaying close to the design and able to articulate why a particular solution was chosenMust have knowledge of how the systems work in order to provide advice on how to correct technologyCommunicationAssist with User guide documentation (where required)Publish release notes (where required)Provide regular updates to PM on BA deliverablesEffective communication with the Technical teamsBuilding and maintaining relationships with key stakeholdersPersonal Attributes and SkillsThe successful candidate must demonstrate the following competencies:
Communication Skills: able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.Reporting Skills: ability to consolidate information and compile reports reflecting the necessary relevant informationAbility to communicate logically and objectively is essential components of this role.Very organisedConflict ManagementExpresses opinions, information and key points of an argument clearly.Probes for further information or greater understanding of a problem.Relates well to people at all levels.Education and ExperienceQualifications:Informatics or Other Relevant DegreeAdvanced UML course, BPMN Course, PM training or qualificationCertificate in Business Analysis or Advanced Certificate in Business AnalysisExperience:More than 4 years' experience as a Business AnalystBusiness experience & product knowledge advantageousTechnical Skills:Project Management, SQL queries, Business Writing Skills, Presentation and Facilitation SkillsSolution Architecture, Process Mapping, Entity Diagram mappingSoftware testing pack design, functional testingEMPLOYMENT EQUITY The Company's approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
