Let's Write Africa's Story Together!Old Mutual is a firm believer in the African opportunity and our diverse talent reflects this.Job DescriptionThe Business Analyst will be responsible for analysing and evaluating business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and developing solutions to enhance finance operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, and a deep understanding of business, finance and IT processes.Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to gather finance operations team requirements from stakeholders.Document and prioritize these requirements to ensure clarity and alignment.Analyse data trends and metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.Use analytical tools to support decision-making and business strategies.Evaluate current finance operations' processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies.Recommend enhancements or redesigns to improve productivity and effectiveness.Collaborate with IT teams to design solutions that meet requirements.Assist in the development of functional specifications and user stories for software development.Help in the testing phase by creating test cases and validating that solutions meet the specified requirements.Ensure that the final product aligns with business needs.Serve as a liaison between finance operations team and technical teams to ensure all parties are informed and aligned.Facilitate meetings and presentations to keep stakeholders updated on project progress.Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for end-users.Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting as users adapt to new systems or processes.Occasionally assist with project management tasks, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope.Monitor project milestones and communicate progress to stakeholders.Minimum RequirementsExperience, Knowledge & Skills requiredBachelor's Degree3-5 years of experience in business analysis or a related roleFamiliarity with Agile methodologiesUnderstanding of finance and general ledger conceptsCompetency DescriptorsAnalytical Skills - Ability to analyze complex data and processes to identify trends and insights as well as proficiency in using analytical tools & techniques.Communication Skills - Strong verbal and written communication for conveying information clearly and an ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, ensuring their needs are understood.Problem-Solving - Aptitude for identifying issues and developing practical solutions which also includes creative thinking to approach problems from different angles.Technical Proficiency - Familiarity with data analysis software, project management tools, and databases. Basic understanding of programming languages and software development processes.Stakeholder Management - Skill in building relationships and managing expectations among stakeholders with a strong ability to negotiate and mediate to reach consensus.Attention to Detail - Precision in documenting requirements and analyzing data with a keen thoroughness in testing and validating solutions.Business Acumen - Understanding of business operations, industry trends, and market dynamics to be able to align technology solutions with business goals.Adaptability - Flexibility to adjust to changing business needs and project requirements and a willingness to learn new tools and methodologies as needed.Project Management Skills - Ability to manage timelines, resources, and project deliverables effectively. Familiarity with Agile would be beneficial.Interpersonal Skills - Strong collaboration skills to work effectively in teams.The Recruitment ProcessTA Interview: This will be a discussion with a member of the TA Team to give you an understanding of our business, our culture & values and more context on the role. It will also allow up the opportunity to get to know you a little better and ensure OMI can meet your needs.Panel Interview: This will be with 2 members of the Senior Leadership of the Finance Team and 1 member of the HC Leadership Team.Technical & Psychometric Assessments: These will depend on the role and will sometimes happen concurrently with MIE & Internal Verification.Final Feedback.SkillsBusiness Operations, Business Processes, FinanceEducationBachelor Commerce: Accounting Finance (Required)Closing Date07 October 2024The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit in question.
