Underwriting Services in its Personal Lines Underwriting team has a position available for an UNDERWRITING ANALYST who will be based Hill on Empire, Parktown, Johannesburg.
What will make you successful in this role?The purpose of the role is to support Portfolio Admin & Outsourced Business with:
Monthly processing of renewals for all Outsourced Business BinderholdersManage renewal data cleansing and quality control.Recommend and communicate data clean-up actions to BinderholdersData modelling – enhancing and use of current modelsBroker renewal performance analysisAssist with renewal automation projects Continuous enhancement of the UW segmentation modelClient Segmentation and application of differentiated renewal increasesAlignment of renewal rules with rating changes and market forcesIdentification of performance and growth corrective actionsDrive renewal implementation and monitor results thereof.On-site renewal audits from time to timeRenewal report preparation and presentation to management.Analysis of Outsourced Business Portfolios and presentation of findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.Qualifications and ExperienceDegree in Insurance & Risk Management or Statistics or similar disciplines would be an advantage.Expert knowledge in MS Excel including use of advanced excel formulas2 to 3 years general insurance experience will be an advantageExperience in working with large data setsKnowledge of data mining techniquesShort term insurance pricing knowledge would be an advantageKnowledge and SkillsHigh analytical thinkingAbility to grasp concepts quicklyExceptional problem solving skills Strong ability to manipulate and interpret dataGood communication and presentation skills Proactive and self-motivatedAbility to perform under pressureTime management and focussed delivery of deadlinesGood planning, analytical and decision-making skillsA good team player – integrates and shares knowledge and skillsDisplays keen insight and intuitionClient focusFlexibility and adaptabilityDrive resultsAction orientatedAnalytical thinkingInformation seekingApplying expertise and technologyData Analysis Our recruitment process OnboardingStep 8
