Build & Release Engineer (Hybrid)

Responsibilities:Automate and optimize their software build and deployment system, ensuring they measure and minimize the time from commit to customerMake sure build and deployment processes are following known best practices, coach and train developers on best practices that help them become more efficientBuild, extend, and maintain the software release pipeline system, ruthlessly minimizing the feedback loop for developers and release time to for customersPlan and build Infrastructure-as-Code deploymentsEducation of the team on the best use of build, deployment and other toolsRepeatability of the release management process for the development teamScale pipeline to support more customers, systems and developersBuilding and maintaining the build and deploy pipeline environmentAutomating release to manufacturing steps, optimizing for continuous release and deployments to scaleRaise build and deploy infrastructure issues and potential improvements with Operations and DevOps TeamsManage build and deploy infrastructureLiaise with Engineers in other teams on a regular basis on common issuesPerforming other software development tasks, such as developing code for internal and external web applicationsWorking with QA and Dev team to push the envelope on known best practices for automation, always improving themExercise technical consistency within the IT environment.Demonstrate culture of individual leadership and development and exhibit progressive attitude to technology and career Education:A BSc Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, a BCom Business Information Systems (BIS) Degree, or a very high quality Technikon Diploma Experience:3+ years of work experience in a development environmentExperience in a fast-paced, agile environmentExperience with Application Lifecycle Management tools (ALM)Experience with AWS Cloud and virtualizationExperience with cloud platforms is requiredExperience with various development & scripting languages:JavaScript.NET, C#PythonPowerShellBashHands on experience with various operating systems and environments:LinuxWindowsKubernetesExperience with collaboration & development tools:SCM Git distributed source controlBuild GitLab, GitHub, JenkinsDeploy Octopus, Ansible, Salt, Terraform, Rundeck, Helm
