PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To develop, implement and maintain Chrome System solutions in accordance with Samancor Chrome business requirements to facilitate informed business decisions, with the key focus on System Development
BALANCED SCORECARD PILLARS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

CUSTOMERS

Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities (e.g. SHEQ, ISO, IT issues)

Suppliers Relations:

Liaise with IT suppliers and service providers as required

BUSINESS PROCESSES
Group Business Solutions and IT Strategy, Leadership & Governance:

Provide input to the Samancor Chrome Group Business Solutions and IT strategy in line with business requirements

Policies, Procedures:

Develop, maintain and implement Group Business Solutions and IT Policies, Procedure, Standards, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.

IT Management:

Coordinate Group Business Solutions
Ensure standardisation of software, hardware, development tools and database architectures across Business Units
Maintain the SLA's of outsourced service providers

System Development:
New Developments:

Manage Group Business Solutions projects related to implementation of or changes to the Business Process
Liaise with the Business Units to identify business requirements
Assist with the compilation of Group Business Solutions project Scope Of Work
Compile Group Business Solutions technical specifications
Develop and implement Group Business Solutions in accordance technical specifications

Continuous Improvement:

Identify and define opportunities for improvement of current Group Business Solutions in conjunction with Business Units
Identify and define new Group Business Solutions resulting in the establishment of projects
Implement CI initiatives

Documentation:

Compile Project documentation
Review and update operating manuals and other documentation

System Integrity and Protection:

Maintain system integrity, availability and performance
Develop and maintain the Disaster Recovery Strategy to ensure Business Continuity
Test the Disaster Recovery Plan
Maintain IT Security controls in line with the Patch Management Policy
Provide education to users to bring about an understanding of IT security risks
Safeguard IT facilities (access control and environmental conditions)
Maintain the IT back-up strategy

IT Infrastructure:

Implement and support new IT Infrastructure
Ensure compliance to Group standardisation of Hardware/Software for Samancor Chrome

Maintenance and Support:

Assist in the 24 hour support function to the end-user
Train and coach the end-user
Administer the Group Business Solutions security
Manage the Helpdesk
Deal with IT operational problems that have been escalated from the outsourced service provider

Administration:

Compile operational reports

Benchmark IT technologies against industry standards
Direct and coordinate the selection of new technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Degree or National Diploma in Information Technology
4 years' relevant experience

Additional qualifications:

Software development (32-bit & 64-bit environment)
Microsoft Desktop environment as well as Microsoft Enterprise environment
MSSQL
MCSD (Microsoft Certified Software Developer)
Web Development
IP.21 Real Time Database
SharePoint
