Backend Engineer (Mid To Senior)

As a Backend Engineer, you'll be working on Plentify's main Ruby on Rails application, which orchestrates all pieces of our IoT and load management system.
You'll be part of a cross-functional team driving the full software lifecycle, from concept to development.
You share our obsession with delivering the best user experience and are comfortable with backend coding languages, development frameworks, and third-party libraries.

This role can be based anywhere in the world (including our office in Cape Town), as long as your working hours overlap sufficiently with South Africa's.

Required qualifications and skills Very high attention to detail, structured and creative problem solver, and strong communicator.
Comfortable working independently within a flexible development process.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science (preferred).
4+ years of software development experience, including experience with the following: Required: Relational databases.
Writing unit tests.
A version control framework like Git.
Nice to have or willing to learn: Rails.
Heroku.
AWS, including DevOps.
