Automation Technician

takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Automation Technician to join our team at the Cape Town Warehouse.This position reports to the Site and Services Manager.Your responsibilities may include:Ensure that all equipment is operating in design specification parameters to eliminate downtime.Ensure effective implementation and execution of the equipment preventative maintenance system.Maximize line efficiency, throughput rate, uptime, and manage critical spares.Plan for spares procurement for repairs.Implement best maintenance practices and support continuous improvement projects.Contribute to the safety system and adhere to safety requirements.Manage maintenance schedules, diagnose automated systems, and perform repairs.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and system issues.Communicate with service providers and manage assets.Attributes required:Hands-on with a preventative mindset.Solutions-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.Excellent written and spoken communication skills.Ability to interact with stakeholders, adapt to change, and work efficiently.Qualifications:Grade 12, Maths & Science.At least 3 years of related work experience.Electronics technician/Electrician/Millwright Red Seal (N3 upwards).Preferable wireman's license, OHS systems experience, PLC, networking, and industrial PC knowledge.Pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics, and conveyor systems experience.The Environment:takealot.com employees are entrepreneurial, customer-centric, and strive for excellence.We value teamwork, ownership, and continuous improvement.We seek individuals who are analytical, competitive, passionate about e-commerce, and innovative.Takealot is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
