Job OverviewThis role entails a range of constitutional, administrative and human rights-based litigation and advisory work. The incumbent will be expected to work with directors, as well as independently, and with clients, counsel, correspondent attorneys and other teams. The candidate must be highly efficient, career driven and adept in working in a collegial but high-performance environment. The role involves managing all elements of the various dispute resolution processes, as part of a global law firm.Duties & ResponsibilitiesConsult with clients and counselDraft legal opinions, pleadings and correspondenceManage work to support optimal utilizationAssist senior lawyers as required, acting as lead lawyer, where appropriateOffer high quality legal advice to clientsComply with risk requirements, firm policies and all relevant professional responsibilities and legislationDelegate and provide feedback to juniors and communicate progress on tasks to supervisor and team members, consulting and offering solutions on difficult technical client issuesManage, develop and strengthen client relationships through anticipating client needs and expectations; and provide prompt responses and updates on progress.Brief counsel and keep counsel up to dateSupport the firm and others in establishing effective relationships with individuals and groups, across the global networkUphold the firm's valuesPrepare cases for hearings, trial or arbitrationMaintain the confidentiality of legal documents and client recordsAssist individual clients through the asylum process and represent clients before the relevant review and appeal bodiesLitigate in civil courts, tribunals and arbitrationContribute to the firm's initiatives (e.g. corporate social responsibility and diversity and inclusion activities)Desired Experience & QualificationAdmitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa2-3 years PQE in Constitutional and Human Rights Litigation / Dispute ResolutionGood understanding of the pro bono landscape: key drivers for efficiency, relevant role players and client costs and expectationsSolid knowledge of chosen area of law and industry sector(s)Strong legal skills, including drafting, negotiation, and project management skills; foundation level people management and business development skillsPackage & RemunerationMarket Related.Interested?Apply onlineContact: 011 803 9465Brought to you by AGC Legal Recruitment
