Duties and responsibilities

Performing routine legal functions under minimal supervision of a qualified legal professional;
Drafting and filing affidavits, summons, pleadings, High Court applications, preparing and attending to Default Judgment applications and other legal processes;
Drafting letters, negotiating amicable settlements; drafting settlement agreements; making settlement agreements orders of courts;
Management and running of civil litigation matters focusing on counterfeit goods;
Capable of liaising and briefing Senior / Junior Counsel, attending civil hearings, providing input to Counsel;
Understand the workings of the Criminal Procedures Act, Criminal Courts and capable of assisting or supporting the Police and NPA (State Prosecutors) to thoroughly or properly prepare for criminal trials;
Able to arrange meetings with the Police and State Prosecutors and willing to travel to Magistrate Courts around the country to attend criminal hearings;
Assisting and guiding investigators with search and seizure warrant applications, search and seizure warrant executions or operations, attending to post-raid Counterfeit Goods Act formalities;
Independently maintaining and monitoring cases, preparing and drafting of monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly schedules and clients' reports of pending matters;
Liaising with local Sheriffs, Police and Customs officials;
Good presentation skills;
Dealing with matters promptly and efficiently and ensuring that all urgent tasks are completed on timeously;
Attending to all areas of practice and office procedures;
Being able to handle large volume matters and able to function or operate under pressure.
Skills and Knowledge

Meticulous, attention to details and willing to learn;
Display high level of initiative, pro-active in practice and results driven;
Excellent communication skills;
Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and the Internet;
Motivated, ability to work under pressure and driven to meet deadlines; ability to use initiative and driven by excellent service delivery;
Ability to prioritise and have good organisational skills;
Knowledge of Patricia, CMS and Anti-Counterfeiting enforcement will be an advantage;
Experience of working in an IP firm (Intellectual Property) will be an advantage;
Flexibility (may be required to do work outside office hours); and
High Court Litigation experience.
Qualification/s

LLB and an admitted attorney or relevant qualification;
Fellow of the SAIIPL;
Anti-Counterfeiting experience an added advantage;
1 to 5 years post articles experience;
Good Academic record; and
Computer literacy.
