Assistant Sommelier - Luxury Wine Farm - Stellenbosch

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a knowledgeable Assistant Sommelier to join an elite team based at a luxury wine farm in Stellenbosch. The ideal candidate should have a passion for wine and excellent customer service skills. As a Sommelier, you will be responsible for suggesting suitable wines to pair with our menu and creating an unforgettable dining experience for guests.Responsibilities:Pair food and wine for set menus, a la carte, and special events.Conduct wine tastings for lodge guests and VIPs.Keep up to date with beverage industry trends and adjust the beverage offering accordingly.Ensure correct presentation and temperature of all drinks.Update the wine list as necessary.Place orders for all wines and other beverages.Meet with suppliers to find new and exciting wines to add to our portfolio.Ensure the wine service area is set up and ready for service.Conduct temperature checks and ensure equipment is in working order.Conduct monthly stocktake of beverages and manage a healthy beverage cost.Promote guest satisfaction.Requirements:Certificate from Cape Wine Academy/WSET Level 2.2-3 years of wine tasting experience and applicable product knowledge.In-depth knowledge of wines, including grape varieties and regions, harvest times, climates, soils, and the wine-making process.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong customer service orientation.Ability to maintain a professional working relationship with all departments.Comfortable in dealing with very distinguished clientele.Must be well-presented and enthusiastic.Flexible and accountable.To apply please send your CV, references and profile photo today.
