About the roleThe primary objective of the farmers engagement is to cultivate, manage, and harvest agricultural produce in accordance with best farming practices.
This will include ensuring sustainable farming and optimizing yield.Responsibilities:To assist the farm manager to take care, oversee and manage the day-to-day operation on the farm.Assist with land preparation, planting, harvesting, and post-harvest processes.Assist with monitoring crop growth, manage pests, and ensure high crop yieldAssist with fertilization and spraying of chemicalsAssist with weeds controlAssist with irrigation and maintenance of irrigation systemAssist with records related to farming activities, such as crop yields, pest control, and fertilizer usage.Manage the sorting, packaging, and storage of harvested produce to minimize loss.Assist with other general work of the farm.Requirements:South African Unemployed youth between the ages of 18 and 34Must not have participated on the YES ProgrammeGood communicationExcellent interpersonal skillsDetermination and ambitionCertification or diploma in agriculture or a related field is an advantage.Valid drivers licensePlease consider your application unsuccessful when you have not heard from the Signa Opportunity team within two weeks of submitting your application.
