Our client, a leading supplier of flavours, emulsions, and a wide range of beverage bases (alcoholic, non-alcoholic, dairy, malt, and cereal), as well as sweetening systems, fruit and vegetable juices, purees, concentrates, and blends, is looking to hire a full-time Application/Product Developer.
The role requires 2 to 5 years of experience in product development, with a specific focus on alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
Candidates must have knowledge of South African food legislation, experience in tasting a variety of beverage products (especially alcoholic), and familiarity with SAP.
Residing in or near Paarl (Western Cape) would be an advantage.
Requirements:BSc/National Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, or a related qualification.2 to 5 years of work experience in a Product Development/Application position with focus on Beverage development (Alcoholic and non-alcoholic).Knowledge of South African Food Legislation.Experience in tasting a variety of Beverage products, specifically Alcoholic products.SAP experience (advantageous).Residing in or near Paarl (advantageous).Valid Driver's license and own vehicle.
Duties:Prepare application samples and perform analytical checks on development samples.Select and sample flavours to meet customer requirements.Research new ingredients for product development.Develop formulations with a focus on cost-efficiency and raw material sustainability, in coordination with QA, Sourcing, and Production departments.Coordinate and maintain records of samples entering and leaving the laboratory.Liaise with suppliers regarding raw material documentation and samples.Manage development projects and organize project information.Formulate new products, line extensions, or matches according to project briefs.Conduct sensory evaluations of products.Compile technical documentation and complete production handover.Maintain Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in the Application Laboratory.Organize and keep the flavour library up to date.Attend factory trials when requested, both in-house and at customer premises.Create and maintain recipes in SAP.Collaborate with the Technical Project Manager and Sales team on all development projects.
