Job Description
As a Stormwater Senior Engineer in our Water Resources team, you will provide technical and specialist analysis and design support in the area of stormwater drainage, hydrology and flood management for a wide range of infrastructure projects including major roads, rail, mining and urban development in Africa and around the world. The appointed candidate will be based in either Cape Town or Durban, South Africa.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake: Hydrological analysis of storm rainfallHydrological and hydraulic analysis of catchment runoff and watercoursesHydraulic modelling and design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, erosion/scour protection and other flood control structuresSustainable urban drainage system designPreparation of project specifications, bill of quantities and tender documentationStormwater master planning and flood risk assessmentsMentoring less experienced staff Minimum requirements Eight to twelve years' experience in a similar role - essentialExperience in hydrological studies, hydraulic analysis and design of stormwater drainage infrastructure such as culverts and bridges - advantageousExperience in the design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, erosion/scour protection, flood control structures and runoff treatment and management devices – advantageousKnowledge of detailed road drainage design and multi-disciplinary interfaces - advantageous.Experience in the use of drainage analysis and associated design software technology applications (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, PCSWMM, SewerGEMS, 12D, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS etc.) - highly advantageousStrong communication skills, both verbal and written. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalentMasters degree or equivalent, would be an advantagePrEng registration
