At GMCO, we aim to make accounting less burdensome and empower our clients to focus on their business journey.Role DescriptionAn organized and adaptable Administrative and Bookkeeping Assistant is required to support management with administrative duties and manage bookkeeping for select clients. This role is ideal for someone who excels at multitasking and is looking to balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on bookkeeping. Proficiency in Xero, Excel, and Microsoft Office is essential, along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software.Key Responsibilities:Provide comprehensive administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing communications, and maintaining records.Assist in preparing documents, reports, and presentations as needed.Manage office supplies and ensure smooth day-to-day office operations.Assist with the onboarding of new clients, including setting up client files and ensuring compliance with internal processes.Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.Manage a portfolio of clients' financial records using Xero, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.Perform bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and prepare financial reports.Assist with tax preparation, including VAT returns, ensuring compliance with South African tax laws.Implement and manage automation processes using Xero and Dext to streamline bookkeeping tasks.Maintain strong client relationships by providing accurate financial insights and support.Requirements:Proven experience in administrative roles and bookkeeping.Strong proficiency in Xero accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software and tools.Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.High level of integrity and professionalism, especially when handling confidential information.Understanding of South African accounting principles and tax regulations is a plus.Desired Qualifications:A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Bookkeeping or a related field is a plus.Certification in Xero highly desirable.English to level of first language communication skills in written and spoken form.Tech savvy ability – embrace technology and online communication and research.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionAccounting/Auditing and FinanceIndustriesAccounting
