In this role, you'll be responsible for tasks such as processing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining financial records, and reconciling bank and credit card statements. You will ensure the accuracy of financial data by entering and verifying information in our accounting system while adhering to compliance standards. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, your attention to detail and ability to prioritise multiple tasks will be essential in supporting our financial operations.RequirementsExperience & QualificationsRelevant tertiary qualifications in accounting or bookkeeping.At least 1 year of practical experience (experience in the travel industry is a plus).Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or similar.Previous experience with forex and international payments is advantageous.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Our ideal candidate is:Able to embody and champion our brand values and behaviours.Proficient in managing multiple tasks and competing priorities with minimal supervision.Able to think critically, exercising independent judgment and discretion.Technologically savvy and resourceful.Results-oriented and solution-focused with a strong problem-solving mindset.Detail-oriented and meticulous.Effective communicator, both in writing and speaking.Self-motivated, with a proactive learning attitude, a sense of urgency, and a drive to explore new approaches.The responsibilities of the positionData Entry and Record Keeping: Inputting financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets, maintaining accurate records of transactions, and ensuring all entries are up-to-date.Invoice Processing: Handling accounts payable and receivable, which involves preparing, processing, and reconciling invoices, as well as tracking payments and outstanding balances.Bank Reconciliations: Assisting in reconciling bank statements with internal accounts to ensure consistency and accuracy.Expense Management: Processing employee expense claims and ensuring proper documentation and approvals are in place.Assisting with Financial Reporting: Helping prepare financial reports, statements, and summaries for management review, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.Supporting Month-End and Year-End Processes: Assisting with the preparation of monthly and annual financial closings, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.General Administrative Support: Providing administrative support to the finance team, such as filing documents, handling correspondence, organising financial records, and performing various other accounting and administrative duties as required.Communicating with Vendors and Clients: Liaising with vendors, clients, or other departments to resolve discrepancies or clarify payment details.Compliance and Auditing: Ensuring financial transactions comply with company policies and procedures and assisting with internal and external audits as needed.Benefits& Other InformationHome Base: Located in the Cape Town CBD.
