Shelly Beach Hospital (Pty) Ltd has one post of a Unit Manager in the Medical Ward.
Role Summary The successful candidate will be overall responsible and accountable for coordinating, implementing and managing quality nursing care in the units.Key Work Output and Accountabilities:
Provision of effective, safe, and efficient patient and family centered nursing care in the units, making Shelly Beach Hospital a hospital of choice in the area.Accountable for identification of unit's clinical and safety risks (SHE) and trends.Checking and ensuring the availability, completeness and working condition of the resuscitation trolleys and equipment.Management of ward stock and consumables.Checking and ensuring the availability of scheduled drugs, ensuring compliance to the SOP in relation to Scheduled drugs.The Unit Manager is responsible for identifying areas to improve operational efficiencies in nursing care, to ensure sustainability for the hospital and internal audit compliance.Ensuring compliance with National Core Standards of quality, Infection Prevention and Control, and Occupational Health and Safety prescripts.Active participation in the Customer Relationship Management Process.Responsible for identification of quality improvement opportunities in the Unit; and ensure appropriate quality improvement initiatives are developed, implemented and effects measured.Ensures appropriate utilization of resources, including equipment, human and supplies, to limit costs and maximize results.Manage Unit nursing financials, including overtime cost and daily staffing approvals and models – working within approved acuities.Inherent Requirements:
A relevant nursing qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse.5 years relevant experience after registration as a Registered Nurse with SANC.Proof of current registration with SANC.Recommendation:
Experience as a Unit Manager or shift leader will serve as an advantage.
