MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: A B Engineering/BSc Engineering/National Diploma is essential.A Government Certificate of Competency is essential.Mechanical and Electrical engineering theories are essential.Masters in business administration will be advantageous.Legal and operational knowledge relating to mining is essential.10-12 years work experience as an Engineer with a minimum of 3-5 years as a Manager: Engineering within the hard rock mining environment is essential.Minimum of 5 years trackless experience is essential.Computer literacy (MS Office, MS Project) is essential.SAP R/3 knowledge will be advantageous.2-3 years project management experience is desirable.General, financial and strategic management methodologies and principles are desirable.Time management, data analysis, negotiation, presentation, coaching and mentoring skills are desirable.Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate is essential.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct and attend to all mechanical planned and breakdown maintenance.Attend to all breakdowns, daily inspections, and new installations.Ensure maximum plant availability through proper maintenance.Report abnormalities and adjust mechanical equipment operating outside of normal parameters.Install and maintain mechanical equipment.Adhere to safety and security standards.Perform standby duties and overtime when required.Promote and maintain good housekeeping in areas of responsibility.COMPETENCIES: Providing Insights: Continuous improvement by providing insights, identifying key issues, and making intuitive judgements.Challenges Ideas: Prepared to disagree and question assumptions; challenges ideas and established views; and is comfortable arguing own perspective.Empowers individuals: Motivate individuals by empowering them; seeks to inspire people and groups; give encouragement to others.Taking Action: Takes action to make things happen; uses initiative to start things up; shows drive and invests personal energy.Making Decisions: Is determined and decides on actions; willingly assumes responsibility; is definitive and stands by own decisions.Embraces Change: Copes with change and variety; tolerates uncertainty and ambiguity; adapts to new challenges.Upholding Standards: Behaves ethically and justly; is discreet and maintains confidentiality; meets commitments by acting with integrity.KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: The successful candidate is responsible to: Effectively manage and coordinate the engineering function and standards at Marula Platinum Mine.Effectively manage short-, medium and long-term planning of all engineering-related activities and operations in support of Marula Platinum Mine as a business, inclusive of utilities, technical services, and transport.Ensure engineering compliance with statutory requirements in terms of business, safety, and risk management.Ensure the overall effectiveness and maximum availability of equipment and engineering integrity as well as upholding professional engineering standards.Introduce new technology and ensure improved performance of equipment and infrastructure that are outdated.Develop engineering personnel for succession planning purposes and ensure that a pool of engineering talent is available for strategic employment purposes.Effectively guide engineering personnel in providing a quality professional service to Marula Platinum Mine.Ensure that capital and working costs are effectively managed within the business plan parameters.Implementation of sound engineering information management systems to properly measure engineering KPIs.Implementation of sound asset management protocols for the effective improvement of asset maturity levels.
