The Youth Development Manager will be responsible for the day to day management of the Kagiso/Randfontein Youth Development Centre and the Gauteng Family Homes.
This is a live-in position on the Kagiso/Randfontein Youth Development Centre.
Manage and administer the facility in compliance with applicable organisational Policies/Procedure, the Childrens Act No 38 of 2005 and its regulations; Develop and manage budgets for the Youth Development Centre and ensure that expenses stay within budget guidelines; Implement the procedures, practices and controls prescribed by the Chief Financial Officer; Attend to all administrative duties (business plans, various reports, consultation feedback, performance appraisals etc.
); Assist in the development of written publications and other documents Attend all required and relevant meetings; Supervise the Social Worker, Senior Child and Youth Care Worker, Support Services Manager and Professional Nurse.
Liaise and engage with other GBT Divisions; Develop staff into a cohesive team with her/himself as a leader and head and ensure that the Girls and Boys Town Programme is implemented;; Ensure the completion of all Treatment Plans and Individual Development Plans as per the required timelines; Act as the frontline person in managing consumer grievances (where media activities are routed directly to the CEO); Engage in regional networking activities; Introduce, organize and facilitate development and education/training programmes for staff; Do duty at our Holiday Camp as per duty Roster.

Qualifications and experience A Bachelors degree in Social Work Registration with the SACSSP 8 Years Social and Youth related work experience Previous experience working in a childrens home setting Previous experience in developing clinical youth-centred treatment and Individual Development Plans A minimum of 5 years experience in the management, monitoring and supervision of therapeutic team members Code 08 drivers licence, with own reliable transport.

Demonstrated ability to implement GBT models in practice: consultation, evaluation, training and administration Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and recommend changes.
Functional financial management skills Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Bilingualism (an indigenous language will be advantageous) Twenty-four hour availability: emergency consultation and team support Ability to work in an environment with challenging youth.
Willingness to travel nationally when and if required.
