Position Summary:
The Welfare Manager leads the Welfare and Safeguarding to create a safe and healthy environment for students, Group Leaders and staff and is the go-to person for Welfare, Safeguarding and administration issues and concerns in Centre. In the larger centres or in absence of the Hall Manager, the Welfare Manager will have to cover their duties.
Key Responsibilities:Promote and safeguard the welfare of all students, Group Leaders and staff in Centre.Inspire, manage, and lead a team committed to students' development and welfare.Ensure the correct implementation and subsequent follow-ups of the Welfare and Health & Safety systems under guidance from the Centre Manager and Head Office.Maximise student and group leader satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds expectations. Specific duties include:Ensure compliance with the company's Safeguarding, Health and Safety policies and those of the centre.Take appropriate action under guidance from the Centre Manager, Head Office and/or professional bodies where issues of health, safety or welfare arise.Induct, train and inspire the Centre team in Welfare and Safeguarding.Hold regular meetings with Group Leaders and Guardians on Welfare, Health and Safety and Safeguarding.Oversee the care and supervision of individual students (those not part of group) including the Guardian system: induction, training, implementation, monitoring, meetings, paperwork, student knowledge of their programmes and daily routines.Ensure all students' dietary, medical, religious, and cultural needs are met.Supervise individual students who are unwell, monitoring their progress in centre and providing regular updates to parents and agents.Assist and accompany individual students to hospitals or clinics when needed.Ensure there are systems in place which enable all students to receive appropriate advice and guidance and have a channel for reporting concerns during their stay.Ensure suitable supervision of students (in consultation with other managers) during activities, excursions, residences, and free time.Assist with student arrival and departures at Centre as needed and requested by the Centre Manager.Work with the Activity Manager to ensure risk assessments are comprehensive and control measures are being implemented by frontline staff on activities.Support other managers and carry out other operational/campus duties as assigned or requested by the Centre Manager. Organisational Compliance:
The job holder will be expected to operate in accordance with the company's Code of Conduct, and any local policies and operating procedures relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters.
Employees are required to comply fully with all arrangements in place related to Health and Safety, including implementation and compliance with control measures resultant from risk assessments and engagement with, and completion of, any relevant Health and Safety training.
Education Required:Degree-level education or equivalent (or currently pursuing).Valid First Aid Certificate (desirable).Safeguarding Level 1 and 2 (desirable – if not in possession, Embassy Summer will provide the necessary courses upon successful selection). Experience Required:Proven experience in roles involving logistics, organization, or travel.Proficiency in IT systems, including Outlook and MS Office (especially Excel).Demonstrated ability to lead a team effectively. Experience Desired:Previous experience working with juniors.Experience managing a summer school environment.Knowledge of Malta. Eligibility and Safe Recruitment:Must be eligible to work in the EU.Commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people.All CV gaps must be satisfactorily explained.Proof of identity and qualifications (if applicable) required.Clear Criminal Record Check and references must be provided before signing the contract. Working Week:6 days out of 7 (1 day off per week). Maximum weekly hours will be detailed in the Offer Letter.All management roles are residential. Remuneration:
Accommodation and full board provided in addition to a competitive weekly salary, based on the size of the centre and experience. This will be discussed at the time of the interview.
Accommodation is provided from the night before your first working day until the night of your last working day.
Embassy Summer does not cover costs for flight tickets and airport transfer to/from the accommodation.
