About the roleAs a Web UI Design Intern with a focus on WordPress and Social Media, you will assist our team in creating Word Press websites while also contributing to the development and execution of social media strategies.
This internship offers the opportunity to work on web design projects, collaborate with the social media team to create engaging visuals, and help enhance our brand presence across digital platforms. Responsibilities Web Design & WordPressAssist in designing user interfaces for WordPress websites, ensuring they are visually appealing and user-friendly. Help customize WordPress themes and templates to align with client requirements and brand guidelines.Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for WordPress sites to communicate design concepts effectively.Collaborate with developers to ensure design elements are implemented seamlessly in the WordPress environment.Optimize designs for responsive layouts, ensuring websites look great across all devices and screen sizes. Assist in maintaining and organizing WordPress themes, plugins, and other design assets. Contribute to improving website usability and user experience by conducting design testing and providing feedback.Stay up-to-date with WordPress design trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.Social Media Support Create engaging visual content for social media platforms, including graphics, banners, and short videos that align with brand identity. Collaborate with the team to design social media posts, stories, and ads across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Help manage social media accounts by assisting with content scheduling, posting, and engaging with followers. Assist in monitoring social media analytics and performance to assess the effectiveness of campaigns. Contribute to brainstorming and content planning sessions for social media campaigns and promotions. Maintain and update social media design templates to ensure brand consistency across. Skills needed Familiarity with WordPress theme builders such as Elementor or WP Bakery. Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Canva, Figma, or Sketch. Basic knowledge of JavaScript and PHP is a plus, but not required. Experience using social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) is a plus. Strong attention to detail with a passion for creating visually appealing, user-friendly designs Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with developers, designers, and marketers. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Requirements A degree in Web Design, Interaction Design, or a related field. Basic experience with WordPress, including theme customization, plugin installation, and basic troubleshooting. Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, wireframing, and prototyping. Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and an understanding of best practices for digital marketing. Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS and how they interact with WordPress themes is a plus. A portfolio showcasing your design work, ideally including WordPress-related projects or social media content. Must not have taken part in the YES Program before. South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
