Main job functionThe water programme's goal is to increase job creation and investment into water infrastructure, technologies and services, and to improve water resource productivity. We achieve this through a number of different activities: we perform demand creation activities (such as supporting businesses to become more water efficient and resilient); we provide support to the water sector (such as collecting and disseminating market intelligence and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship); and we support improvements in resource productivity (through, for example, our analytical work into the economic impacts of water availability).QualificationsPostgraduate degree, specifically Master's degree in Engineering or Economics or Finance or Resource Management.Criteria6+ years' relevant experience• Serving as the technical lead on water sector projects, providing strategic and expert input to drive project success.• A proven track record of developing viable business cases for investment and providing technical support to municipalities and government.• Existing network within the sector (including relationships with key individuals at Western Cape municipalities, water and sanitation technology providers etc.)• Leading complex projects in the water sector, including cross-sectoral projects, developing, co-ordinating and managing technical activities within the project teams• Considered a leader in the water space and able to leverage external stakeholder relationships for the benefits of the current and future projects• Experience in leading and guiding engagements with municipalities and other key stakeholders• Strong understanding of non-sewered sanitation technologies, and experience in leading projects that aim to unlock wider adoption of these technologies• Strong understanding of sustainable technology options in water and wastewater infrastructure• Experience in screening and developing investment pipelines for municipal water sector projectsRemuneration: R900 000A Consultant will be in touch if you are shortlisted for the position.
