Employer Description: Our client is in the industrial pumps industry.
Job Description:
Analyse the full scope of supply, bills of materials and other project documentation in order to estimate costs.
Create new designs where necessary, complete with cutting lists and machining/fabrication drawings.
Provide accurate estimation of costs and lead-time for the complete manufacturing of components, taking into account material, labour, machining, electricity and logistics.
Research, source and obtain the best price and lead-time from suppliers/subcontractors and have the ability to negotiate costs with suppliers based on the above calculations.
Be responsible to analyse information that can affect costs, e.g. currency exchange rates.
Assist the Sales Department in preparing quotations.
Comply with all the design requirements according to customer specifications, industry and engineering standards.
Identify material requirements and provide assistance with the bill of materials generated and verify the bill of materials per job file received.
Able to interpret engineering drawings, assist machine-shops and fabricators with machine-setup & interpretation of drawings.
Responsible to ensure adherence to ISO quality standards and procedures.
Participate in design meetings with technical sales, QA & the planning department.
Technical handovers, internally and externally.
Liaises with customers and suppliers as required.
Qualifications:
Degree or National diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Skills:
Good general knowledge of pump application, mechanical and hydraulic loading, engineering concepts.
Minimum of 8 years experience in mechanical design and fabrication detailing.
Knowledge of material strengths, fits and tolerances.
Hands-on experience with design, engineering and/or fabrication of pump components.
Sound knowledge of Metallurgy.
Proficient computer skills such as CAD, AutoDesk Inventor and 3ds max.
