Job Summary: In this role, you will provide expert guidance on underwriting and risk assessment, helping the team make informed decisions about the coverage limits for various veterinary procedures.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping policies and ensuring claims are resolved accurately and fairly, based on sound veterinary knowledge.
Youll be a key advisor to the underwriting and claims departments, offering insights into the complexities of veterinary cases and procedures.
Requirements: Veterinary Qualification: Degree in Veterinary Science or a Veterinary Nursing qualification.
Minimum Experience: At least 3 years of experience working as a veterinarian, with exposure to both routine procedures and complex cases.
Pet Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with the pet insurance industry is highly desirable but not required.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess risk and make informed underwriting decisions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external veterinary clinics.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and excellent administrative skills.
Maturity and Professionalism: The candidate must be well-established in their veterinary career, capable of advising on complex cases, and confident enough to challenge vet clinics when necessary.
Decision-Making and Stress Tolerance: Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure situations with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities: Underwriting Risk Assessment: Analyse veterinary treatments and procedures risks, advising on appropriate coverage limits and premiums.
Claims Assessment: Assess and evaluate pet insurance claims to ensure timely and fair resolutions that are in accordance with clinical realities.
First Claim History Checks & Non-Disclosure Processes: Verify pre-existing conditions and ensure transparency in underwriting.
Pre-Authorization Approvals: Oversee and approve procedures requiring prior authorisation to ensure treatment suitability and coverage.
Training: Educate and guide the underwriting and claims team on veterinary procedures and best practices, sharing your clinical expertise.
Product Development: Contribute to designing and improving pet insurance products and clinical protocols.
Advisory Role: Offer professional insights into complex cases, challenge veterinary clinics on appropriate procedures, and advise on best clinical practices.
