Job RequirementsBVSc / DVM degree.Poultry and Poultry health and production experience.Ruminant Rural Veterinary experience will be an advantage.Strong Computer literacy skills in MS Office (Intermediate level). Specifically, Excel and PowerPoint are essential.Fluent in English.Valid drivers license and own motor vehicle required.Ability to operate independently as well as part of a team.Being a good team player is essential.Willing to travel long distances within South Africa and neighbouring countries.Strong work ethic.Job DutiesClinical DutiesDiagnosing and Treating Illnesses:Examine animals to diagnose their health problems.Treat and dress wounds, perform surgery, and prescribe medication.Preventative Care:Administer vaccinations to prevent diseases.Provide advice on animal care, nutrition, and general health.Emergency Care:Provide emergency treatment for sick or injured animals.Stabilize animals in critical condition and perform emergency surgeries.Dental Care:Perform dental procedures such as cleaning, extractions, and oral surgeries.Educate pet owners on the importance of dental health.Surgical DutiesPre-surgical Evaluation:Conduct thorough examinations and diagnostic tests to assess animals' fitness for surgery.Discuss surgical options and risks with pet owners.Surgery:Perform routine and complex surgical procedures.Ensure proper anesthesia and pain management during and after surgery.Post-operative Care:Monitor animals' recovery and provide post-surgical care instructions to owners.Address any complications that arise after surgery.Diagnostic DutiesLaboratory Tests:Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood tests, urinalysis, and imaging (X-rays, ultrasounds).Use diagnostic tools to assess health conditions accurately.Pathology:Examine tissue samples to diagnose diseases.Work with pathologists for complex diagnoses.Client Interaction and EducationConsultations:Discuss treatment options, prognosis, and care plans with pet owners.Provide clear and compassionate communication regarding animal health.Client Education:Educate pet owners on preventive care, nutrition, and behavior.Provide resources and guidance on managing chronic conditions.Administrative DutiesRecord Keeping:Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all patients.Ensure confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.Practice Management:Manage the day-to-day operations of a veterinary clinic or hospital.Oversee staff, manage inventory, and ensure the clinic is properly equipped.
