Our client is seeking an experienced Veterinarian with a focus on the care and medical treatment of big cats within a sanctuary environment.
The role involves ensuring the health, well-being, and proper management of big cats, providing them with the highest standards of veterinary care.
Responsibilities: Veterinary Care and Treatment: Provide comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and treatment, tailored to the specific needs of big cats.
Develop and implement health care plans, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, and preventative care.
Monitor the health and behavior of big cats, responding promptly to any signs of illness or distress.
Perform necessary medical procedures and treatments to maintain and improve the health of the animals.
Health Management and Record Keeping: Maintain detailed medical records for each big cat, documenting all treatments and health outcomes.
Implement health monitoring programs, including regular health assessments and disease prevention strategies.
Collaborate with sanctuary staff to ensure comprehensive care and the well-being of the big cats.
Manage veterinary supplies and equipment to ensure all necessary resources are available for the care of big cats.
Welfare and Ethical Considerations: Ensure all veterinary practices prioritize the welfare of the animals and adhere to ethical standards.
Participate in developing and implementing welfare policies and guidelines for the care of big cats.
Educate sanctuary staff on best practices for handling and caring for big cats, emphasizing the importance of their welfare.
Research and Education: Engage in research aimed at improving the health and welfare of big cats, contributing to the advancement of veterinary knowledge in this area.
Stay updated with the latest developments in veterinary medicine, particularly concerning big cats.
Provide training and education to veterinary students, interns, and sanctuary staff on the care of big cats.
Key Skills: Extensive experience in veterinary care, particularly with big cats.
Strong diagnostic and treatment skills in managing the health of large animals.
Excellent record-keeping and documentation abilities.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on teamwork and animal welfare.
Ability to work effectively in a sanctuary environment.
Significant experience working with big cats in a veterinary capacity.
Experience in a sanctuary or wildlife setting is preferred.
Commitment to the ethical treatment and welfare of animals.
Qualifications: Veterinary degree from a recognized institution.
