Vat Accountant

Shift Pursuit has partnered with one of South Africa's largest retailers, seeking a VAT Accountant to join their dynamic finance team.
Responsibilities: Assist with the reviewing and periodic filing of the non-RSA VAT returns ensuring accuracy and compliance with the individual VAT acts of each country and the Revenue Authority interpretation. Prepare VAT returns for specific countries including the electronic filing requirements. Review VAT reconciliations and ensuring accuracy. Assist with and guide on VAT audits. Perform VAT reasonability calculations. Assist with the development and implementation of system enhancements. Admin and associated filing. Ad-hoc projects. Review article master data for accuracy. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 3 years VAT experience or similar. Experience with VAT in Africa will be advantageous. Accounting degree or relevant tertiary qualification. Diploma in VAT will be advantageous but not required. Experienced with Excel. Information software systems – SAP. Enjoy VAT and other domestic taxes. Enjoy Management Accounts. Analytical ability and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and management skills. Team player but able to organise and prioritise own work and work independently. Time management. Review, reconcile and analyse financial information. Deadline driven.
