The position is based in Cape Town region. Relevant Tertiary qualification (Chemistry/Polymer Science) and minimum 10 years' experience in ink formulation development is required and non-negotiable.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or related field.
Masters degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in UV ink formulation.
In-depth understanding of pigment dispersions, polymer chemistry and UV curing mechanisms.
Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment relevant to ink formulation and testing.
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Duties:
Formulation Development:
Design, develop, and optimize UV ink formulations for various applications.
Maintain a systematic approach for ink formulation, ensuring consistent quality and performance.
Testing and Validation:
Conduct comprehensive testing of ink properties including adhesion, durability, colour, rheology, and cure speed.
Validate the performance of new ink formulations through standardized and application-specific tests.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the R&D team, sales, and application teams to understand market needs and tailor formulations accordingly.
Work closely with raw material suppliers to stay abreast of the latest technologies and innovations.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of ink formulations, testing results, and production procedures.
Prepare technical data sheets, safety datasheets, and other necessary documentation.
Scale-up and Production Support:
Assist in the scale-up of ink formulations from lab scale to production.
Troubleshoot production issues related to ink formulation.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to UV inks.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in ink formulation processes.
