The position is based in Cape Town region.
Relevant Tertiary qualification (Chemistry/Polymer Science) and minimum 10 years' experience in ink formulation development is required and non-negotiable.
Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or related field.Masters degree preferredMinimum 10 years of experience in UV ink formulation.In-depth understanding of pigment dispersions, polymer chemistry and UV curing mechanisms.Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment relevant to ink formulation and testing.Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Duties:Formulation Development:Design, develop, and optimize UV ink formulations for various applications.Maintain a systematic approach for ink formulation, ensuring consistent quality and performance.Testing and Validation:Conduct comprehensive testing of ink properties including adhesion, durability, colour, rheology, and cure speed.Validate the performance of new ink formulations through standardized and application-specific tests.Collaboration:Collaborate with the R&D team, sales, and application teams to understand market needs and tailor formulations accordingly.Work closely with raw material suppliers to stay abreast of the latest technologies and innovations.Documentation:Maintain detailed records of ink formulations, testing results, and production procedures.Prepare technical data sheets, safety datasheets, and other necessary documentation.Scale-up and Production Support:Assist in the scale-up of ink formulations from lab scale to production.Troubleshoot production issues related to ink formulation.Continuous Improvement:Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to UV inks.Drive continuous improvement initiatives in ink formulation processes.
