Position: Unit Manager | Occupational Health Nurse
Introduction: A vacancy exists for an Occupational Health Nursing Unit Manager, based at the Life Occupational Health clinic in the Northern Cape Beeshoek Clinic. The successful candidate will report to a Business Manager. The Unit Manager will be responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team, inclusive of Occupational Health and EMS, and for rendering a quality service that meets and exceeds the Client's expectations and requirements.
Critical OutputsImplementation, management, coordination, upgrading, and rendering of quality on-site healthcare services as per the Client's Service Level Agreement.Managing and supervising on-site clinic staff and team, ensuring the staff understand their different roles, responsibilities, and tasks in the clinic, and perform their tasks effectively and efficiently as per set rosters and job descriptions.Arrangement of induction and in-service training of new and current employees as well as locum staff.Arrange the placement of locum staff when clinic staff are absent or request leave.Compiling of staff rosters in line with the daily and weekly clinic rosters.Check all time sheets for accuracy before submission to the Regional Office.Ensure all leave is captured in time, and forms are submitted to the Regional Office.Track attendance and report on any attendance problems identified, assisting the Contract / Business Manager with management of poor attendance.Provide regular feedback on staff-related matters to the Business Manager.Conduct bi-annual performance assessments with the appointed Business Manager.Compile, implement, and manage medical surveillance programs in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.Ensure medical surveillance examinations and tests are up to date, conducted accurately, and in accordance with contractual requirements.Plan and coordinate Occupational Health Risk Assessments, providing feedback reports to the Client.Ensure clinic stock (medicines and consumables) is controlled, ordered on time, and complies with required stock levels.Conduct quarterly stock counts and submit accurate documentation to the Regional Office by set dates.Ensure clinic equipment is calibrated on time and in good working order.Attend required meetings such as Health and Safety and Client feedback meetings.Compile, implement, and manage the following programs:Health and chronic illness monitoring and follow-up.Keep all registers up to date and accurate.Compile accurate and professional feedback reports to the Client, including statistical reports.Prepare and assist with clinic audits, ensuring findings are corrected and closed out on time.Establish health status and trends of employees, providing accurate feedback to Clients.Ensure all filing is accurate and confidential.Ensure all data capturing is done correctly.Coordinate clinic management and Emergency Services on-site.RequirementsThe following critical qualifications and skills are required: Experience in management of multidisciplinary teams, administration, employee relations, and communications.Continuous focus on high standards of service delivery, Client communication, and teamwork.Results-oriented, organized, with excellent administrative, coordination, and management skills.Nursing Diploma or Degree (qualified as a Registered Nurse).Diploma / BTech degree in Occupational Health (must appear on current SANC receipt).Relevant registration with SANC.Minimum of 2-3 years' experience post-graduation in a mining environment.Certificate in Audiometry, Spirometry, Vision, Multidrug test, HIV counselling, and dispensing.Registered as an audiometrist at SASOHN.Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Medical database experience advantageous).Own transport is essential.Experience on COID act reporting and administration.Knowledge regarding Occupational Health will be an advantage.Customer orientation, focus, and teamwork complete the profile.Driver's license Code 8.CompetenciesManagement of multidisciplinary teamsProblem-solving, analysis, and judgmentResilienceTeamworkInfluencing skillsBusiness insightAbility to function independentlyAttention to detailGood interpersonal relationshipsPerformance / Achievement DriveDrive and energyExcellence orientationEthical behaviorBuilding relationships & networkingCustomer responsivenessVerbal & written communication skillsMotivating and developing peopleTime ManagementHolistic approachEmotional MaturityEmail: ****** Closing date: Friday, July 19, 2024
