Job DescriptionDear Future Underwriter,
The role requires you to provide an effective and efficient service to clients by obtaining the correct medical and setting of underwriting requirements telephonically, that need to be referred to a Senior Underwriter for sign-off. Facilitation of such requirements related to new and existing business.
Are you someone who can do the following? Risk Assessment: Evaluate insurance applications to determine risk levels and eligibility for coverage.Policy Issuance: Approve or decline applications based on underwriting guidelines and risk assessment.Documentation: Ensure all underwriting decisions are documented accurately and comprehensively.Customer Interaction: Communicate with agents, brokers, and customers to gather necessary information and explain underwriting decisions.Compliance: Ensure all underwriting activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in underwriting.Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as claims, sales, and customer service to ensure a seamless customer experience.You will be an ideal candidate if you: Education: NQF5 in Short-term Insurance, RE5 and FAIS Compliant.Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in personal lines underwriting and 5 years' experience in Short-term insurance.Skills:Strong analytical and decision-making skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.Knowledge of insurance regulations and industry standards.You will have access to: Opportunities to network and collaborate.A challenging working environment.Opportunities to innovate.We can be a match if you are: Adaptable and curious.Have strong customer service experience.Thrive in a collaborative environment.Are you interested in taking the step?
