Job SpecificsOn-site role, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.Full-timePurpose Of The RoleThe underwriter will provide essential technical support to the senior team within the Construction Guarantees division. This role focuses on conducting financial assessments, risk evaluations, portfolio management, and maintaining strong relationships with both clients and brokers.Main ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and interpret financial statements to assess clients' business viability.Conduct comprehensive risk evaluations, including credit, technical, and operational aspects.Underwrite new facilities within the established policies and guidelines.Review client facilities annually and provide detailed underwriting reports.Manage administrative tasks such as quotes, legal documents, and monthly exposure reports.Process applications for guarantees, including issuing, amending, and cancelling them as needed.Oversee all financial transactions related to guarantees, including invoicing, premium quotations, and handling collateral.Foster relationships with brokers and clients to ensure timely query resolution.Continuously enhance service delivery standards.RequirementsA qualification in either Finance or the Built Environment (Diploma/Degree).Certificate in Short-Term Insurance (or in the process of obtaining it).RE 5 Certificate for Representatives (or working towards this).FAIS compliance (or working towards compliance).At least 3 years of relevant experience in construction, insurance, or banking.Key CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail with a focus on delivering accurate results.Deadline-driven and able to manage processes effectively.Excellent communication and relationship management capabilities.A strong sense of business acumen, networking ability, and customer-oriented focus.This role suits a professional who is detail-oriented and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on client relations and risk management.
