What will you do?Vantage a division of Santam has a fixed term opening for an Underwriter to be based in Cape Town.The successful candidate will be expected to attend and manage all aspects related to a portfolio of brokers.Provide all stakeholders with effective and efficient personal lines underwriting services according to the required standards and procedures to retain existing clients and secure new business in support of the business strategy.What will make you successful in this role?Duties and responsibilities:Underwrites policies according to the underwriting guidelinesConduct risk assessments and decide to accept or decline riskRate policies in keeping with underwriting guidelinesGeneral enquiries such as but not limited to cover, products, processes etc.New business, renewals, endorsements, and quotesRequest, obtain and/or provide brokers with all required information and/or documentsAnalyse client's portfolioApply effective renewal terms and corrective action on completed or unprofitable policiesFile all relevant documentation electronicallyCancellations (Follow retention processes)Refunds and raise invoicesAdhere to company mandatesParticipate and contribute in ad hoc projectsReport any suspected fraud, misrepresentation, and/or dishonestyKeep accurate record of own activitiesQualification and ExperienceMatricFAIS CompliantNQF4 Qualification in short-term insuranceRE51 year administrative experience2 years personal lines underwritingKnowledge and SkillsStrong administrative skillsAttention to detailExcellent communication skillsPersonal AttributesFriendly dispositionTeam playerCustomer service driven
