TuksSport High School is looking to employ a High School Principal
Organisation Description:
TuksSport High School is an English-medium independent co-ed school, catering for talented learner-athletes from Grades 8 to 12. The school, situated on the UP Hillcrest Sports Campus of the University of Pretoria, offers a unique sporting and learning environment to its learners. We support current and developing high-performance learner-athletes to find a balance between their academics and their rigorous training programmes and competition schedules.
TuksSport High School is a residential school which houses approximately 180 learner-athletes in its residences and has a cohort of approximately 80 day learner-athletes.
We seek to appoint a dynamic and innovative High School Principal with a proven record of successful school leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience in the running of a high school and will have an appreciation of and significant understanding of sport at a high level.
School hours: 08:00 – 15:30
Key Performance Areas:
Strategy development and implementation
Human Resource management
Financial management
Marketing and communications
Education Management
School Residences / Boarding House
Building and maintaining relationships
Identification of development opportunities for staff
Minimum Requirements:
Education qualification
Four-year B Ed degree (FET & Senior Phase); or a Three year Bachelor degree, plus one-year teaching qualification, e.g. PGCE/Higher Education Diploma, or equivalent qualification
Registration as an educator at the South African Council for Educators (SACE)
Minimum of 10 years' teaching experience in a High School environment
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior management role (head of department, deputy principal, principal)
Experience in sport/coaching on provincial club level or higher (5+ years)
Desirable qualifications and experience:
Honours Degree
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to adapt quickly and professionally to a changing environment
Problem solving skills
An appreciation of the holistic requirements of and demands made on high performance learner athletes
Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
