Our client in Dubai is seeking a Tug Engineer who is prepared to relocate and become part of their dynamic team.Applicants from Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, Kwa-Zulu Natal (Durban) and Limpopo are encouraged to apply.Requirements:Marine Engineering Diploma or Degree or equivalent certification.Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA).Relevant experience in tugboats or similar vessels, is essential.12 months of sea service on vessels, including tugboats or similar marine vessels.A strong understanding of marine propulsion systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems is essential.Must have a valid passport.Responsibilities:Oversee the operation and maintenance of the tugboat's machinery, including engines, generators, and hydraulic systems.Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure all equipment is functioning efficiently and safely.Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, implementing repairs as needed to minimise downtime.Monitor performance indicators of machinery and systems, making adjustments to optimise operation.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and operational logs for compliance with regulations.Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations, conducting safety drills and inspections regularly.Collaborate with the captain and crew to coordinate operations, ensuring readiness for towing or berthing activities.Assist in the training of junior engineers and crew members on machinery operation and safety practices.Respond to emergencies and equipment failures, implementing contingency plans to safeguard the vessel and crew.Participate in the installation of new equipment or upgrades to existing systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
