Job description:
The Truck workshop department currently has a vacancy for an assertive, hands-on and attentive to detail individual to join their team as a Truck Workshop Team Leader. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Support the Manager with daily planning and work allocation – Assist with delegation of tasks to mechanical staff and draft necessary job cards on Cworks
Update Cworks on and monitor the repair progress, check Cworks for new job requests and generate and assign jobs to team members
To oversee the workshop staff on maintenance and preventative maintenance repairs set out by Manager
Monitor and provide feedback on job progress and inspection on completion of jobs
Regularly inspecting trailers and planning repairs accordingly
Assist on breakdowns and major repair jobs
Inspect major components on our fleet vehicles
Inspect our vehicles after agent repairs
COF inspections, planning and taking vehicles for roadworthy test
Fill out incidents on SHREQ Manager as and when required
Facilitate Toolbox Talks as and when required
Carry out planned vehicle inspections as generated by Cworks and plan repairs accordingly
Attend to and oversee breakdowns, do pre and post repair trailer inspections and to oversee preventative maintenance projects
Support the Manager in ensuring compliance of timekeeping, productive output, discipline and work program within the department
Any other tasks, as agreed with the Truck Workshop Manager, suited to this level of leadership
Qualifying Criteria:
Qualified Diesel Mechanic or equivalent (Red Seal certification)
Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
Minimum 8 years' experience as a Qualified Diesel Mechanic in a similar environment
Must have experience in a leadership role or position
Must be physical fit and of sober habits
Valid driver's license – code 14 plus valid PdP
Knowledge and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Rules and regulations
Ability to work under challenging conditions
Excellent communication skills (understand, read and write in English)
