We use innovative practices and the latest technologies to discover new resources and mine, process, move and market our products to our customers around the world.Job DescriptionIn fulfilling the Case Manager Clinical Care & Compliance your responsibilities will include: Clinical Care Case ManagementOversee the end-to-end management of clinical cases, ensuring appropriate care coordination and medical interventions in line with the Case Management Procedure.Monitor individual cases to ensure they are receiving appropriate medical care in accordance with best clinical practices and company protocols.Ensure that all cases are managed within the scope of the Mine Health and Safety Act or Occupational Health and Safety Act (as applicable) and attend final rehabilitation meetings prior to patient discharge to ensure smooth transition back to social life.Act as the main point of contact for injured or ill employees, Anglo Platinum, COIDA insurers and medical aids, and external service providers of trauma and emergency medical care.Liaise with rehabilitation providers to coordinate early interventions, rehabilitation programs, and return-to-work strategies.Communicate regularly with patients and their families to provide support and updates on their condition and care plans.Monitor T&EMC cases against benchmarks for Return-To-Work (RTW) using MD Guidelines or other benchmarks as established by the Head of Health for Anglo Platinum; when benchmarks are exceeded, institute immediate case investigation.Implementation of Case Management ProcedureEnsure that case management is performed on all cases as defined in the Case Management Procedure, including IOD cases, non-IOD priority one cases on mine premises, injuries covered by Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA), and injuries sustained through interpersonal conflict relating to organized labour matters.Communicate case details to the Head of Health and Wellness, Principal Occupational Health and Wellness, and relevant stakeholders during the primary and secondary transfers of patients.Provide regular updates on patients as defined in the Case Management Procedure, including ICU, high care, general wards, or post-operation, as recorded in the Case Management Procedure.Ensure compliance with informed consent requirements for sharing of confidential medical information and maintain accurate records of verbal and written consent.Generate weekly and monthly reports on all managed cases, including rehabilitation cases, and communicate these to appropriate stakeholders.In the event of patient death, ensure immediate communication with the Head of Health and other relevant stakeholders and monitor for compliance with legal and regulatory protocols, including the relevant DMRE CoP.Standardization and Maintenance of Clinical DocumentsDevelop, standardize, and maintain clinical documentation and ensure clinical documents meet regulatory requirements and reflect the latest medical standards and practices.Collaborate with Senior OMPs, CPNs and clinical teams to ensure consistent application of clinical guidelines and procedures.Maintain the clinical document repository.Training Coordination for Clinical StaffCoordinate training programs for clinical staff in Anglo Platinum Health and Wellness to ensure employees remain updated and proficient in their clinical skills.Develop and implement training schedules in collaboration with clinical leaders to address gaps in knowledge and competency across trauma, emergency care, and general occupational health.Oversee maintenance of training records by Occupational Health and Wellness sites.Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives and report outcomes to relevant stakeholders.Monitoring, Reporting, and Data ManagementAssume the role of Data Stewardship for clinical case management and training data management.Review active cases on the Health Care Management System (QMED) to check historical information that may influence acute case management; communicate the information appropriately to influence clinical care.Maintain the integrity of the T&EMC Case Management database, including accurate and current clinical updates, disability assessment outcomes, and confirmation of informed consent status.Monitor the completion of actions by Occupational Health and Wellness Sites in the T&EMC internal audit tool in Isometrix and assist Sites with compliance.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Science, or a related field.CertificationsValid EB/Code 08 driver's licence.Registration with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or equivalent regulatory body.AMA Guidelines certification (desirable).ExperienceMinimum of 3 years relevant experience.Professional Nurse with training experience as well as Case and Trauma management preferred.Technical knowledge (experience) required for role:Experience in managing trauma and emergency cases, as well as rehabilitation and chronic illness management.Experience in clinical case management, preferably in occupational health, insurance, or healthcare sectors.Experience in standardizing clinical documents and coordinating clinical training programs.Experience in the mining or heavy industry sector.Experience working with healthcare compensation systems (e.g., COIDA, Workmen's Compensation).How to ApplyTo apply for this role, please complete our online application form.
