Who We Are With responsibility for the Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD), we have global accountability for the design, procurement, and manufacturing of wear and maintenance components sold into the aftermarket as well as assembled on current prime product applications.
Job Summary As a Transportation Buyer, you will procure transportation services for all ground transportation modes, Full Truckload (FTL), Less-Than Truckload (LTL), Heavy Haul and Rail, for Caterpillar's material and product flows within EAME & CIS regions. Scope includes transportation of goods for all Caterpillar facilities, including subsidiaries, affiliates, and distribution centres.
What You Will Do: Establish carrier selection criteria that consider economic situation, market trends, carrier capabilities and financial health as well as Caterpillar's strategic direction and business needs.Track market rates continuously and develop a deep understanding of key long-term rate drivers for multiple transportation modes, regionally and internationally.Negotiate contracts and run sourcing events that outline business requirements, performance standards, rates and service level expectations.Work with Caterpillar's legal services to ensure that all carrier contracts provide the Caterpillar Enterprise with appropriate legal protections. Act as commercial escalation for unresolved service provider issues.Drives service provider performance, as defined by operations, to ensure providers are accountable for meeting service commitments.Ensure service provider cost drivers are understood and communicated as needed.Work with service providers to establish quarterly or semi-annual business reviews and ensure those business reviews are held with appropriate business units. Drive visibility of transportation rates/services and run sourcing events through new or existing technology platforms (Keelvar). What You Have: Strong knowledge of the transportation market; cost drivers, trade imbalances, service coverage and capabilities of carriers.College or university degree, preferably in logistics.Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills. Good communication and collaboration skills.Good knowledge of Excel for data analytics.Contracts Management and Administration: Knowledge of policies, standards and processes of how to manage and administer contracts; ability to use proper processes and practices for managing and administering a variety of contractual agreements.Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.Top Candidates Also Have:
