As a Transmission Engineering Manager, you will lead a team responsible for designing, implementing and optimising network transmission systems to ensure efficient and reliable data transmission. You will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end build process from conceptualisation to execution while fostering innovation and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to a team of network transmission architects.Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that promotes creativity, accountability and professional growthAllocate resources effectively, manage workloads and prioritise tasks to ensure timely project deliveryOversee the design, development and implementation of network transmission systemsCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including PMO, operations, procurement and finance, to ensure alignment with business objectives and technical requirementsConduct thorough risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to enhance network reliability and resilienceContinuously monitor network performance metrics and conduct a thorough analysis to identify optimisation opportunitiesDevelop and implement capacity planning strategies to accommodate network growth and evolving business needsProactively identify potential bottlenecks or performance issues and implement solutions to improve overall network efficiencyManage relationships with third-party vendors, suppliers and contractors to procure necessary equipment and servicesEvaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standardsStay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform procurement decisions and maintain a competitive edgeEstablish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability, security and integrity of network transmission systemsCollaborate with regulatory compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry regulations, standards and best practicesConduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions as neededDevelop standards, policies and processes for network planning, implementation and operation.Improve the efficiency of resources through automation and standardisationSet and manage yearly network budgets Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technical field Minimum Experience & Skills Proven experience (8 years) in network transmission engineering, with a focus on design, implementation and optimisationStrong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse teamHas developed and operationalised standards for activations of Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH) networksHas automated provisioning/reporting of network services and capacityHas implemented PNI/LNI systems for Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH) networksKnowledge of relational databases and data querying languages Attributes Client-focused, relationship-builderIntegrity, honest with high ethical standards, Boundless, passionate and flexiblePersonal excellence, accuracy and attention to detailCollaborative, achieve results through teamwork and partnershipsStrong analytical skills and ability to collate and interpret data from various sourcesGood English language communicator with a natural aptitude for dealing with people How to Apply Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply by submitting their updated CV including three referees. As a member of the Engineering team, your role will involve planning, designing, recommending technologies and equipment and implementing necessary changes to the WIOCC network within a set budget and timelines. Along with the team, you will assist in ensuring the network operates at the correct level of quality and performance to enable client service satisfaction, maintain revenue and meet or improve company targets. This role will be acknowledged as 3rd-level technical competence relating to the network.
